How To: Can't Spare Two Fingers? Use This Secret Trick for Smooth Zooming in Google Maps with One Finger
Every single year technology companies have a little bit of fun on April Fool's Day by releasing absurd, yet almost believable stories of some new product or feature. Yesterday, Google publicized the release of Google Nose—a new project in beta—that supposedly allowed users to sniff a variety of smells through their smartphone screens. Well, yesterday I saw this article which spoke of a new secret gesture that lets you zoom in and out smoothly on Google Maps without having to resort to the two-fingered pinch-to-zoom feature.Apparently, there really is a (not-so-much-anymore) secret gesture for zooming in and out of Google Maps with just a single finger, and it works on both iOS and Android devices. You all probably already know that if you just double-tap the map with one finger, you'll zoom in incrementally with each double-tap until you can't anymore. To zoom out, you'd double-tap with two fingers. But if you want the smooth scrolling capabilities without pinching, this is how you do it.To zoom in, all you have to do is double-tap a location, but make sure to hold the second tap. Then just drag your finger up. To zoom out, you can do the same thing, except you slide your finger down instead. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
How did I not know this?!?Did you know of this secret zooming gesture in Google Maps?
