How To: Disable Apple Music's Auto-Renewal for Free Trials So You Don't Get Charged
Apple's streaming music service, Apple Music, offers a three-month free trial in hopes of getting you addicted enough to pay for an actual subscription. While it's not very obvious, there is a way to cancel this free trial from auto-renewing so you can enjoy the whole trial without any financial worries. The process for disabling auto-renewal for Apple Music on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch has changed slightly since its inception in the iOS 8.4 update when Apple Music first appeared. So, if you're running iOS 10 or higher, we'll show you how it's done below. Before that, though, let's go over activating your three-month free trial.

Starting a Free Three-Month Trial of Apple MusicTo start the three-month trial, you'll need to subscribe to Apple Music and have a credit card associated with your Apple ID. You will also have to confirm that you're "buying" either a $9.99/month or $14.99/month subscription (or just $4.99/month if you're a student, for which you'll need to provide proof). Don't worry, though — you won't actually be billed until after the trial ends.Don't Miss: How to Save $20 a Year on Apple Music Once the trial period is over, Apple will begin billing you monthly (unless you switch to a cheaper annual plan, where you'd only pay once each year). If your memory isn't the best, and you think there's a high probability that you won't want to become a paying customer, disabling automatic renewal is your best option for never getting billed. However, it's a little tricky, as it's not in your iCloud or Music app settings.

Disabling Auto-Renewal of Apple Music During a TrialStart by entering your new Music app. Tap the profile icon at the top of the page, select "View Apple ID," then input your password or Touch ID to get to your account settings. On the Account Settings page, tap on "Subscriptions" (or tap on "Manage" under Subscriptions if you're on iOS 9 or earlier). Don't Miss: How to Rate Songs with Stars in the Music App on Your iPhoneOn the subsequent Apple Music Membership page, you'll be able to see the exact date that your trial period ends. You can either put this date on your calendar or proceed to disable automatic renewal. For the latter, just tap on "Cancel Trial" at the bottom, then "Confirm." This will not cancel the trial indefinitely — it will still let you use Apple Music up until the expiration date listed, but won't charge you when that time comes. (If you're on iOS 9 or earlier, you would just toggle off "Automatic Renewal" instead, then tap "Turn Off.") Alternatively, you can access the Apple Music Membership page from within the iOS App Store. Just scroll down to the bottom of the Featured tab, tap on your Apple ID, hit "View Apple ID," then select "Subscriptions." If you're running iOS 11 already, you would tap on your profile picture in either the Today, Games, or Apps tab, then tap on your name and choose "Subscriptions."It's nice that Apple included this option, even if they buried it. Hopefully, Apple will go back to clearly labeling this an "Automatic Renewal" toggle instead of a confusing "Cancel Trial" button, but now you know at least.Don't Miss: All the New Features in iOS 11 for iPhoneFollow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and YouTube Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+
